SEO URL | How to Format URL | Search Engine Optimization

There are different views on how to format a URL. A URL is also known as a Uniform Resource Locator. In more society-friendly terms, an internet address. The way your URL is formatted is an important aspect of Search Engine Optimization. Obviously, if your URL is going to only contain one word, for example, like Blogger. Blogger's URL is http://www.blogger.com . One word = Blogger. If your URL is going to consist of a string of keywords, for example, if you are making a site about the best baseball players. You may want your URL to include the phrase "best baseball players." For this site, your URL should be http://www.best-baseball-players.com . Yes, dashes in between the words. The dashes allow Google to read the words individually and you will get more traffic because of it. Instead of Google reading your URL as bestbaseballplayers, it reads it as best baseball players. This will help Google relate your site to "best baseball players" and therefore, more people will be able to find your site searching "best baseball players." This is just how I have learned to create URL's. Like I said, there are different views on this topic. Tell me what you guys think.

Obtain a stat counter of some sort and inbed this counter in your HTML coding for your site. Let this counter run for a week or so and see what kind of data you can gather. Discover the keywords that lead people to your site, see how many unique visitors you are getting, and analyze all the information you find. Are the people finding your website with the keywords you want them to use? Are people even visiting your site? This analysis will help you better understand the effectivness of your website and help you form your plan of attack...You may need to completely change up your site--code and everything. You may need to buy a new URL and upload pages to that domain. You may only need to make minor changes. First do your research, then comes SEO. So get on it!
